After postponing due to very cold temps, we unfortunately must cancel Sunday's Palio Winter Games. With the effects of the incoming blizzard, Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board cannot ensure staffing for its many municipal duties and our event.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to collaborate on Palio—we're thankful for all the connections made, and hopeful for a great community event in the future.
For three decades, Lake of the Isles neighbors of all ages gathered to proudly show off their neighborhood colors and mascots. This winter, the tradition of friendly neighborhood rivalry continues — East Isles Blue Raccoons, Kenwood Red Egrets and Lowry Hill Green Turtles will march again and compete in the Palio Winter Games!
Brightly dressed and cheering loudly, each neighborhood will march from designated gathering spots to converge at the Lake of the Isles warming house. A figure skating program featuring skaters from each neighborhood opens the Games, followed by pickup hockey, arts activities, local treats, and open skating — with free skating lessons and rental skates for anyone who wants to join in.
So come out to Palio! Stave off the chilly air around roaring bonfires, share treats and warm drinks as you visit and exchange stories with old and new neighbors.
Feed the flame with neighborhood spirit!
