Kandell Collection,” which includes more than two hundred Buddhist ritual objects created in Tibet between the 1300s and early 1900s. Activate your six senses–including the mind–through music, food, tours, and more.

Journey back to the bewitching, bohemian nightlife of Paris in the 1890s–the scene of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s painting At the Moulin Rouge, on loan to Mia for a limited time. Then jump ahead to the early 20th century and the avant-garde antics of Salvador Dali, the hot jazz of Josephine Baker, and the joyful abstractions of Henri Matisse. Come dressed to impress and enter our costume contest; visitors vote on their favorite. Please note that non-medical face masks cannot be worn in the galleries.

Bde Maka Ska Cleanup
East Isles collaborated with Upstream MN to get a Hennepin Co. Good Steward grant, which helps our Green Team expand its cleanup work beyond our neighborhood. Called the Green Guardians, we're working with 8 neighborhoods around Lake of the Isles and Bde Maka Ska to remove trash from the lakes and raise awareness of the Adopt-A-Drain program!

Check-in for treats and cleanup gear like gloves, buckets, bags, and trash pickers. You may want to wear tall boots, pants and long sleeves to reach trash at the edge of the Lake through trees and brush. Please be cautious as we sometimes find sharp objects.
Our cleanups are Park Steward events, and the Park Board asks that all Park volunteers sign a waiver each year. You can find the 2024 waiver here, or sign one at the clean up:

Twin Cities Book Festival
The Twin Cities Book Festival offers bibliophiles all the joys of in-person browsing, meeting writers and publishers, and activities for readers age 1 to 101. Rain Taxi’s Twin Cities Book Festival is the annual Minnesota gathering for readers, writers, publishers, and purveyors of all things literary. Owámni: Falling Water Festival
Via Minneapolis Park & Rec Board:
Owámni is what the Dakota called the area at St. Anthony Falls. It means, “whirling or falling water” in the Dakota language, making it an appropriate name for this festival along the Mississippi River.
This free, family-friendly event is co-presented by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board and the St Anthony Falls Heritage Board to celebrate indigenous Minnesota culture with music, art, food, and more!

The LoLa Art Crawl is a friendly neighborhood art tour among the bungalows, gardens, and small indie businesses of the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis. LoLa artists and makers show and sell their work at homes and businesses throughout the neighborhood, with many sites hosting two or more artists together. All sites, both indoors and outside, are open to the public at no cost to visitors.
