The Kenwood, Lowry Hill, East Isles and Cedar Lake neighborhood organizations are holding a public safety gathering this Friday. The following speakers are confirmed:
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey
Minneapolis Police Inspector Nelson of the 5th Precinct, and possibly Assistant Police Chief Blackwell
Chief Ohotto of the Park Police, along with Lieutenant Klein
Minneapolis City Council Member Katie Cashman, our recently elected Ward 7 rep
Aileen Johnson, North Loop resident and organizer of the safety walking clubs
The purpose of the meeting is to focus on issues regarding public safety. Speakers will provide an update on crime statistics in the neighborhood, trends, and what the department has done to improve safety in the neighborhoods. Philosophies and positions on public safety will be shared. What neighbors can do to assist the park police and the Minneapolis police in their work will also be addressed. Other issues or comments that the speakers feel would be helpful for neighbors to know are welcome. There will also be a short Q & A at the end.
