Parking Meters Update

BET

Thanks to all residents of East Isles and beyond who made their voices heard about the recently installed parking meters along Hennepin Ave side streets. We were notified that the meters will be bagged during the 2025 construction season. From Public Works:

We’re implementing several changes to parking regulations along the Hennepin South area related to the start of the Phase 2 construction season. Those include:

  • Suspending the northbound bus lane restriction from 28th St to 26th St

    • Northbound buses are detoured east to Lyndale Ave along 28th St so they won’t be traveling on these 2 blocks of Hennepin Ave

    • This means parking will be allowed throughout day along this stretch

    • In place signing will be covered up or adjusted to reflect this operation

  • Suspending metered parking on several cross streets along Hennepin

    • These streets were transitioned to metered parking to provide parking options for visitors to the area when the bus lanes are in effect

    • Due to low parking demand and increased parking capacity on Hennepin Ave metering these side streets is unnecessary during the construction season

    • The metered parking will be suspended on:

      • 28th St from Hennepin to Girard

      • 27th St from Hennepin to Humboldt

      • 27th St from Hennepin to Girard

      • Girard from Hennepin to 27th St

      • 26th St from Hennepin to Humboldt

    • We will be conducting additional parking demand evaluation throughout the summer and upon project completion to determine if we’ll need to put any of the metered parking back in effect when construction is complete.
